Publishing files

Everything KDP's forms take, produced in the app. Downloads count against your plan's monthly export allowance; nothing on this page costs credits except where it says so — the generation was the purchase, the files are yours.

Exports

A finished manuscript downloads as Word (.docx, each chapter its own section — what KDP's eBook slot takes), PDF (an A5 reading copy), or Markdown. An export made before the book is finished says so on its first page rather than pretending to be the whole book.

The print interior

The book block for KDP's paperback slot, as a PDF at your chosen trim size (6 × 9 by default). Margins are mirrored, with the inside gutter taken from KDP's own page-count table, so the file passes KDP's checks first time. It carries a title page, a copyright page, chapters opening on right-hand pages, and page numbers from chapter one.

How the book is set lets you choose the conventions: chapter openings, type size, line spacing, indented or spaced paragraphs, justified or ragged. Downloading it records the page count on the book, which the print cover reads for its spine.

The rule everything rests on: the AI draws the picture, the app sets the type. Image models misspell; your title and author name are set in real fonts from exactly what you typed.

• Describe the cover in a line, or let the app read your book and fill the brief in for you.
• Pick from roughly twenty template looks, previewed before you spend anything on the artwork.
• Drawing the artwork is charged at the price on the button. Re-setting the type is free — the artwork is kept.

The print cover wrap

One more press on a finished cover builds the full paperback jacket: back, spine and front as a single PDF at the exact unfolded size, 300 dpi, with bleed. The spine width is calculated from your page count and paper; spine text appears from 80 pages; a white box is left for KDP's barcode; the back carries your listing description. Free, like re-setting type.

The listing kit

List it on KDP writes, from the finished chapters: the sales description, exactly seven keywords (KDP's form has seven boxes), and category suggestions. Each has a copy button, and the KDP extension pours them into Amazon's form for you.
